Vapors are typically released as the hot HMA contacts the release agent during truck loading. The combination of the gases evolved from the mix along with the water vapor generated by contact with the hot HMA can produce a visible plume directly above the truck bed and under the silo impacting on employees and neighbors. Gencor’s Bottom capture system is designed to collect the vapors during truck loading by pulling gases continuously from under the silo area and then re-injecting the clean air back under the silo. The gases emitted in the loadout operation are hot and rise to where they are contained inside an enclosed containment area under the silos. A suction nozzle, located above the truck bed and in close proximity to the silo discharge gates, pulls these gases at a constant and continuous rate evacuating the loadout area. The gases then pass through the filter unit which is coated with a special oil absorbing powder that captures the condensable organics in these gases. This powder is chemically inert and non-toxic with a neutral pH and absorbs oil and hydrocarbons. The cleaned gases are then returned to the truck drive-through area which helps to contain any unfiltered gases.
